Alyssa Stewart, DPT

Owner & Physical Therapist

Alyssa is the owner and lead physical therapist at Empower PT. She saw the need for something more than traditional physical therapy, something more than just treating the injury. With her lifelong passion for physical activity and human anatomy, and her ever-present desire to challenge herself and help others, Empower PT was established in 2015. Whether you’re an athlete working towards the next level of competition, or someone desiring to return to pain free movement, her goal is to provide you with the tools, encouragement, and mobility to do so.

After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Exercise Physiology, Alyssa obtained a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami in 2009. Alyssa began working in both the outpatient and inpatient settings at St. Catherine’s Rehabilitation Hospital, and quickly worked her way to Senior Physical Therapist. She then moved to South Tampa in 2011 where she served as a staff physical therapist for five years at St. Joseph’s Hospital, working in both inpatient and outpatient rehab before deciding to open her own practice. Alyssa is committed to ongoing professional growth and is constantly seeking the most innovative ways to give her clients the tools they need to maintain a pain-free life.

Certifications: Polestar Pilates for Rehabilitation, Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Functional Movement Screen (FMS), Functional Range Conditioning (FRC), Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), full body Active Release Technique (ART), LSVT BIG for Parkinson’s Disease, APTA Clinical Educator for DPT students. 


Julia Corsi

Business Manager & Personal Trainer

Julia is Empower PT’s business manager. She is a graduate of the University of Tampa where she majored in Human Performance with a concentration in Exercise Physiology and a minor in Exercise Science. While at the University, Julia aided in the facility operations of the campus’ fitness and recreation center for three years. She has obtained her personal training and youth fitness specialization certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. While assisting in individual and group training sessions, Julia enjoys being part of a positive atmosphere that allows people to reach their health and fitness goals while sustaining a healthy business culture.


Liz Meyer

Pilates Instructor

Liz Meyer is a Balanced Body trained Pilates Instructor and a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant.

As a graduate of South University’s PTA program, Liz utilizes her extensive knowledge of human anatomy and Pilates to individualize a Pilates fitness program that can both promote rehabilitation and improve strength.

Liz’s goal is to create flexibility and muscle balance to obtain a pain free and functional life for her clients.

She brings a high energy to ALL of her group classes, making sure that everyone is having a fun workout in the safest way possible.

 


Rachel Garcia

Barefoot Massage Therapist

Rachel Garcia is a Licensed Massage Therapist who specializes in supporting competitive athletes improve performance, increase flexibility, and manage soreness by way of Chavutti Thirumal – South Indian Barefoot Massage. A Massage Therapist since 2001, Rachel has practiced barefoot massage exclusively since returning from her second trip to Mysore, India, where she learned this ancient form of therapeutic massage from her teachers there. As a dedicated student of both classical yoga and chavutti thirumal, Rachel travels to India regularly to spend time learning from her teachers there. Rachel teaches a drop-in guided Ashtanga Yoga practice on Saturday mornings at 10am. Experience with Ashtanga yoga is not necessary to attend, but some previous experience with yoga is recommended for this class. Drop-in fee is $20
